It's not a successful weekend unless you turn into a prune - I always say...
This weekend was ... well, awesome! It was our first weekend home this month, and I forgot how much you can get done when you are home. No wonder we couldn't see any of the floors in our house and things were starting to grow (just kidding, but it was pretty bad.) More importantly, I love morning snuggle time and just playing/hanging out as a family. Benny and I can't get over how much joy Trice brings us .. he's got the best personality and makes us laugh all the time. We just can't imagine our lives without him.
Friday I hit some garage sales and got some awesome buys! I get so excited over bargains. I always have to call my mother-in-law to tell her because she gets as excited as I do and actually likes hearing about it. Here's Trice clearly loving his new 25 cent puzzle! I got so many nice puzzles ... I'm just in search of one like we had at work where the spaces are much larger than the pieces. That was always my go-to starter puzzle for little people. For now, he's doing exactly what I would want him to do with a puzzle -- removing the pieces, banging them together, and chucking them across the room. He also insists on sitting ON the puzzle and hiding the pieces under his legs. He rocks the circle, though.
On Friday night we headed down to a craft beer tasting and band at Arnold's Park. Trice LOVED all the people -- he really liked screaming at the girls in bikinis. He'd holler at people as they walked by and crank his neck as far as it would go if they didn't acknowledge him. We enjoyed ice cream from our favorite place (yes, 2 times in 1 week...), and since we aren't fun parents - Trice didn't get any. It looked like it was going to storm so we headed home and it was bedtime for bonzos (I'm not even sure what that means...)
Saturday morning I fed Trice and then took him into our room where he slept with his daddy for another couple hours. I got more done in those 2 hours than I have in an entire MONTH! When Benny woke up, he thought we moved to a new house. We spent the morning playing away!
His new favorite place to be is ... INSIDE anything. He's quite the climber.
Officially Trice's Cupbaord. The contents -- mostly tupperware, plastic bowls and cups, random toys he's drug in from the living room -- are scattered all over the kitchen floor resulting in approximately 52 stubbed toes, a pulled groin muscle (slick objects + slick floor), and many interrupted naps to date.
In the afternoon, we headed back to Arnold's Park for the BBQ tasting. It was pretty sweet because we only bought 5 tickets, but most of the places weren't even taking your tickets so we definitely ate more than we thought we were going to. Of course, I just had to turn in a ticket at each one even if they didn't ask for it (I have serious OCD when it comes to rules), but I sent Benny back to get me more. Ha! I ate all of mine WITHOUT bbq sauce - so I got teased a lot about that.

Pulled Pork, anyone?! He DEVOURED it.
We spent the evening babysitting this sweet little girl!! She is so precious. I loved snuggling a tiny baby again. Benny and I kept saying, "Trice was NEVER this small." Trice wasn't really sure what was going on and really wanted to play with Hailey more than we allowed (for safety reasons), but I think it's a good thing he's an only child for now. I did decide I would totally love to take in another baby while I'm at home .. I won't actually do it, but I'd love to babysit anytime!
Benny got to play more with her than I did because Trice wasn't TOO crazy about his mommy holding another baby, but I did sneak her to the other room for awhile to give her some peace and quiet. We even got them both asleep at the same time and I managed to mop the kitchen floor!

Umm... dad ... I think I'm supposed to sit up there with you!

We got this toy back out for Hailey and when Benny was feeding her, Trice crawled right to it, grinned, and played on it. "This is my toy, guys."
But how sweet is this?! If Trice had a baby sister, there would be a lot of pictures like this one.. aww..

Is this how it goes, guys?!
Trice doesn't ever sleep, but Saturday night he didn't sleep a single wink. I couldn't stay awake to save my life, so I'm glad Benny could! We slept through our alarms and didn't wake up in time for church - which TOTALLY bums me out!! We enjoyed a lazy morning and then called my dad to come play with Trice while Benny mowed and I ran to Walmart. I forgot you do NOT go to Walmart on the weekends in the summer. HORRIBLE IDEA. So many tourists. So few registers open. So little patience.
When I got home 5 hours later, Trice enjoyed his first grilled cheese sandwich. He gobbled it right up. We finished it on the deck while Benny grilled. Trice was obsessed with watching the neighbor kids! He kept waving at them and finally the littlest girl waved back .. then he clapped. That-a-boy!
Trice took a nice long nap - I purchased his outfits (Yes, there's an "s" on the end and NO, you shouldn't tell Benny) for his Birthday parties and a few other Birthday supplies. As soon as he woke up, we lathered on the sunscreen and headed to the new splash pad that just opened this weekend. Free water fun? Yes, please.
At first Trice hated it. Personally, I did, too, because the water was FREEZING. But after the initital shock of having water sprayed in his face, he decided he liked it...

Clinging to mom for dear life!
We only stayed for about 10 minutes, so we decided to test our luck and head to the beach next. Trice has never squeezed me so tight ... I thought for sure he'd never let me put his feet in the water. This kid.

He REALLY did enjoy it, you just can't tell from this picture. He didn't ever want to get out once he got used to it. I couldn't think about anything but "I'm on a boat!"

Water Day will wear a baby out. He could totally be a surf board model.
It was time to head home and take a bath, eat supper, and get ready for bed. I got the living room and nursery vaccuumed while Trice chased the vaccuum around. I also figured out some stuff/projects I want to put up on the walls ... we'll see if it ever actually happens. Trice went to bed without too much of a fight and I headed to Hy-Vee. I love shopping late at night when no one is there. It's kind of a peaceful thing for me. I also LOVE riding in my car and listening to the radio sometimes. I always crank it up super loud and belt out tunes when I'm by myself. And now, here I am .. up way too late knowing the second my head hits the pillow, Trice will wake up...
Weekend = Successful.

What a busy and fun weekend!! Trice is seriously just adorable! I really do think he could be a model!
ReplyDeleteMy dad used to say "Bedtime for Bonzos" too... I'm not sure what it means either, but I still say it! :)
