This mama hit the 20 week mark today! I cannot believe how fast the first half of my pregnancy flew by. When we found out when I was just 4 weeks along, I thought it would take FOREVER .. but sure enough, baby is now the size of a small cantaloupe (which are on sale this week in your local HyVee produce department) or the length of a banana. Now is the time baby can start to taste more. Benny says we have to eat Mexican every night. He's so annoyed that I hate spicy food and doesn't want our child to have the same tastes as I do.
Not only does this mean we're halfway to meeting Poppy, it means it's time to SEE Poppy. Our ultrasound is Thursday and we couldn't be more excited. I purchased a few more things for the nursery and will be planning a craft day soon!
Cravings: Apples, Gummies, Milk, Starburst, Anything grilled (2 steaks, please!), Eggs
Blessings: Poppy is moving and kicking more and more! It's so hard to keep my hands off my tummy all day long..
Discomforts: My joints - Hips, Knees, Wrists .. wow do I feel like an old lady! Heartburn, Tummyaches.
What's Playing On Our Radio: Now that Poppy can hear us out here, we've been singing "You are My sunshine" & the "Iowa State Fight Song" almost every day. Daddy sings really loud! I listen to a Christian station on my way to work and home every day and I plan to have that on the radio in the nursery for those nights I'm up late and need something relaxing on!
Book Nook: Currently reading "Chicken Soup for the Expectant Mother" .. it's cute. Reassuring. Comforting. It is chicken soup after all...
As we head into the 2nd half of pregnancy, I've been reflecting on the 1st half and looking toward bringing baby home:
Most Excited For: Ultrasound, Preparing the Nursery, Baby Showers, Making the Final Final Final-Until-I-Change-My-Mind-During-Delivery name selections, And of course - bringing Poppy home!
Most Nervous For: Glucose Test (Yuck!), Delivery (Yes, I got sick when we watched those videos in high school), Finding Daycare!
And, of course, you need some belly pics...
