Just Kidding - but I bet I got your attention. There's only one Poppy inside of me! In my opinion, Poppy looks just like me. ;) And I may be biased, but Poppy is the most adorable baby I've ever seen...
Today was our ultrasound. I am pretty sure I will remember this day forever. I was nervous and excited going in at the same time. I really had no idea what to expect because I've never had an ultrasound. I do remember going with my aunt Joyce when she had one several years ago, but I'm pretty sure I didn't even know where babies came from back then. ;)
When the lady said the jelly was a little warm, I was really glad because if it was cold I was going to pee my pants! I actually drank 92 ounces of water today which I usually don't do because I can't be going to the bathroom all day long.
While I was sitting in my car waiting for Benny to get there, Poppy was kicking me like crazy! He/She must have been gearing up for the big performance. The sonographer said, "Baby is moving like crazy!" I think Poppy might have been showing off for mom and dad..
She started the ultrasound and I'm sure she was going to ask if we wanted to know the gender, but I got nervous and blurted out that we did not want to know. It was rather tempting and at one point I thought about asking, but I would have been upset if we actually found out. At first I really didn't know what was going on, but she was wonderful at pointing everything out. I think she really loves her job because she kept saying, "Aww.. look - baby's yawning! How cute!" It was no time at all before I felt the tears form and start falling. I think daddy got a little teary-eyed, too. We saw Poppy's little fingers, little feet, little tummy (everything was little). Poppy weighed in at 13 oz and the heartbeat was 151. He/She kept throwing her hands up in front of her face (probably to say, "Leave me alone. I'm tired!") We came home with some adorable pictures (including 2 big yawns) that I can't wait to show off to Gpa John when he gets back from the Bahamas.
Our due date was pretty spot on - the ultrasound said July 22nd and we had predicted the 24th. I can't wait for our next appointment in 2 weeks!
P.S. I will attempt to post pictures, but I'm going to wait until Grandpa John returns and gets to see them first!! So check back later. :)
How awesome!! What a great experience! So excited for you!!!
