{Ames} is Where My Heart Is!

This week we decided to be brave and take Trice on his first road trip. Of course, the destination was: Ames, Iowa. Nick had to be there on Thursday for a farm show for work and with the game being on Saturday, he just planned on staying. I was not about to stay home by myself with Trice just yet since I was given more restrictions due to a small scare with my incision (fun stuff!)

We loaded up our entire house (literally!) in the car. I didn't pack anything for myself and had to trust what Nick had packed for Trice - which scared me to death. We tried to perfectly time our departure with his last feeding (because that always works..ha) and hit the road.

Trice was pretty indifferent about the trip...

Benny's sister, Wendy, and her husband, Grant, were super awesome and let us stay at their apartment which worked out really great. Plus they had an endless supply of fresh fruit so I was pretty excited.

Thursday morning Benny headed off to the farm show and I headed to my mom's house. Grandma Amy thought baby Trice was pretty sweet. We spent the morning together, had lunch, and then I headed back to Wendy's.

Next we went to visit my cousin, Haley, as she just started her freshman year at ISU and I was dying to hear how it was going and see her room. Trice slept most of the time, but we did get to snap a picture... After Haley's, we went out to eat at Hickory Park (our favorite) and then made a quick trip to Target.

Friday we had a slow start but the three of us went out to lunch with Grandma Amy, stopped at Target, and hung out at her house for a little bit. Then it was back to Wendy's for some relaxation and waiting for Grandma Donna and Uncle Adam to arrive. We ate supper at the place where Grant works - Oddfellows - and then it was bedtime for our little family of 3.

Saturday was busy, busy, busy. We got up and got dressed in our Cyclone gear. Nick and Adam headed out to tailgate while Donna, Wendy, Trice and I headed to Ankeny. We spent the day at Nick's cousin's house and two of my aunts and my cousin came up to meet Trice. Amber rocks for letting us literally invade her home for the day. It was an AWESOME day of relaxing, chatting, and staring at babies - complete with lunch at my favorite place OLIVE GARDEN. We headed back to Ames and we took Trice to a hotel where our friends were staying so they could meet Trice. We had planned on driving home, but we were exhausted and decided coming home this morning would make way more sense.

Top Left: Aunt Joyce and Cousin Katie with Baby Trice; Top Right: Aunt Cheryl with Baby Trice, Wendy with Baby Hayden; Bottom Left: Baby Trice (1 Month) and Baby Hayden (3 months); Bottom Right: Me with Baby Trice and Amber with Baby Hayden.

Hanging out at the hotel - Snuggles with Uncle Snarfur, Adorable Miss Emma, Emma & Wendy with Trice, and meeting Anna for the first time!

And here are some of my favorites from the trip with Benny's family!

We stopped at the stadium on our way out and took an epic picture that Benny told me he's been dreaming about for 3 years (apparently he dreamt Trice into life).. ha! We finally made it home and are enjoying some peace and quiet.. Dad and Trice are napping right now, but apparently I thought finishing this blog was a better idea. I.will.regret.this.at.2.am.
