Baby Hoo's Book Shower!

I decided to do a children's book theme for Amanda's baby shower. She is a preschool teacher and I know she loves books - plus the ideas were endless! I started by searching Pinterest for ideas, of course, and found lots of great ideas for invitations. However - I'm horrible at recreating and wish they would just give me the exact template that I can enter my information into and print .. ha! Didn't happen. So I relied on my trusty Mr. Martha Stewart Computer Engineer Husband, Benny, to design a template for me. (I didn't know he was so talented when I married him...)

The Supplies

The invitations were library cards in pockets and I made one special request .. "In lieu of a card, please sign a book (old or new) to help build a library for Baby Donahoo." I was thrilled to see how many books Baby Hoo got!

The food was based off children's books...

Pinkalicious: Pink Lemonade
Very Hungry Caterpillar: Fruit
Rainbow Fish: Colored Goldfish Crackers
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie: Cookies
One Fish, Two Fish: Swedish Fish
Book Cake (deeeelicious!)

I had also planned on Ham Sandwiches for Green Eggs and Ham but clearly forgot!

And the details...

We used children's books as centerpieces and had a guessing/advice card out for guests to complete. The guestbook was a children's book and the favors were book{worms} (gummy worms!) Another thing I forgot .. the bookmarks that were supposed to go with the gummy worms! I have a horrible brain these days.

Guests completed a children's book quiz as a game - they all thought it was way too hard, but the mama-to-be got all but one right!

And then of course there were gifts... the most important part! Pretty sure Baby Hoo will be the best-dressed little girl in town!

I hope everyone had a great time. We are looking forward to Baby Hoo's arrival .. it won't be long!
