Weddings and Babies and Grandmas, Oh my!

Six years ago I moved into a tiny little jail cell dorm room at Morningside College with a girl named Chelsea. The memories we made as roommates are still some of my favorites to this day, so I was thrilled when she asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding this weekend.

Freshman Roommates, My Wedding, Chelsea's Wedding!

We arrived in Atlantic around 4:00 on Friday (we made it with only one gravel road stop to feed Trice). We met up with Chelsea and a couple of the other bridesmaids at the church and Chelsea got to meet Trice and gave us the cutest gifts. Then it was time for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The meal was delicious and I consumed approximately 7 of the most amazing brownies ever (they were small so that made it okay) .. I could have eaten the whole platter!

The Gals after Rehearsal Dinner

We headed to Nick's aunt and uncle's house to get some sleep cat nap between night feedings. Trice even got to see Grandma Donna! I woke up bright and early Saturday morning and Nick drove us to Atlantic (we were SO excited when his aunt and uncle offered to keep Trice while he drove me there) .. we didn't know what to do. I still had to sit in the back seat of the car, though, since the front seat was full of luggage.

Had to sleep in our ISU gear for good luck!

I was pretty proud to be the FIRST one at the hair salon since I'm always late post baby. She started doing my hair right away, and think it might have been my favorite style ever. All of us got our hair done and then spent some time hanging out at the Parish Center.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful! The bride was stunning. Everything was perfect (minus my husband watching a live feed of the big game a few pews behind me the whole wedding). We took the same party bus that we had for our wedding, so it was fun looking for all our signatures from 2 years ago! We stopped at the park for some pictures and then it was reception time. Nick and I called it a fairly early night as we were exhausted and Trice was a little overstimulated, but first we had to chat with Robyn and Lily (who is so grown up it makes me cry...)

Together for 8 years & now a happy family of 3!

Sunday we woke up bright and early and headed to Corning and I finished up a few things for Amanda's baby shower. Grandma Donna came and helped with Trice while Nick helped me get stuff set up. I, of course, forgot half the stuff I needed so there was a lot of frantic running around but I think it all turned out great. She got some awesome gifts and will have the best dressed little girl in town. I wanted to write a separate blog about the shower, so you can find that here: Baby Hoo's Shower. I thought I'd share a few pictures, though!

After the shower, we headed out to the nursing home so my grandma could meet Trice for the first time. I have been dying for this to happen! When we walked in, she had a magazine in front of her face. I yelled, "Surprise" and she immediately started crying and saying over and over, "There is a God." She was thrilled to meet Trice and it was one of the best moments of my whole life -- I felt like the day Trice was born all over again. I know how much she's been looking forward to meeting him and how much she loves him! (She talks to and kisses his pictures every day!) My aunt Joyce and cousins, Katie and Kelsey, also stopped out to visit with Trice. After our visit, it was time to head home. It was a long trip (one LONG stop on a gravel road .. someone was just starving) and we went to bed as soon as we got home... I'm still pooped today!

Oh, and I forgot one other thing about this weekend ... Let's just say, "Goooooo Cyclones!!"
